VW T3 gearbox rebuilds for 2WD and Syncro

core service
Many T3 owners know the symptoms: gears no longer stay engaged, synchronization gets worse, individual gears become hard or impossible to select. Often there is more behind it than simple wear.
After complete disassembly, the internal components are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath. Only in a properly cleaned state can wear, damage and other findings be assessed reliably. Each relevant part is then inspected systematically and documented. Damaged parts aren't just swapped — they're judged in the context of the whole gearbox.

diagnosis
You don't need to know what exactly is wrong. A short description of the symptoms is enough — we'll work the rest out together.
process
Briefly describe your vehicle, gearbox and symptoms.
We get back to you and clarify the key points.
We agree how the gearbox gets to us.
The gearbox is opened, inspected and documented.
You get a clear assessment of what makes sense.
Once approved, the gearbox is rebuilt and returned.
disassembly & inspection
Before a reliable quotation for the rebuild can be prepared, the gearbox is completely disassembled. The internal components are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath and then assessed using a structured inspection protocol. This disassembly, cleaning and inspection is charged at €350.
transparency
Every gearbox rebuild includes a detailed invoice as well as photographic documentation with an incoming condition report, a disassembly report and a measurement and setup report. This makes it clear in which condition the gearbox arrived, which work was carried out and how the critical settings were checked. The quality of the rebuild therefore remains verifiable for third parties even years later.
vehicles

Rebuilding classic T3 2WD gearboxes — from normal wear to problems with synchronization, bearings or gear wheels.

Syncro gearboxes are part of everyday work. Marek understands the demands of all-wheel drive, off-road use and loaded drivetrains from his own experience.
Specific gearbox types are discussed together based on your vehicle.
standard scope
The scope shown here is the fixed standard for every rebuild. Which components are actually used or worked on depends on the specific gearbox variant — the Syncro items are therefore standard on every Syncro gearbox.

modifications
Modifications and upgrades tailored to your T3.
Not every T3 is used the same way. Engine, tyre size, gear ratio and use case place different demands on the gearbox. Modifications and reinforcements are therefore never generic — they are planned to fit the vehicle and its intended use.
Matched to engine, tyre size and the planned area of use.
Where the findings call for it, early part revisions can be replaced with later or reinforced versions.
For demanding requirements, reinforced components and selected special parts — including parts from the US — can be used.
Which measures make sense is discussed together after the inspection.

about marek
Marek grew up with the VW T3 Syncro and drives his red bus every day as much as on off-road trips. Out of this driving and testing came a deep understanding of the gearbox over the years — its strengths, its weak points and what can be meaningfully improved.
Gearboxes leaving the workshop go straight back into use. What shows up there flows into the next rebuild. Driving, understanding, improving and testing come together as a closed loop.
That experience supports not only the rebuild of your gearbox, but also the identification of meaningful improvements for your T3.

faq
An exact assessment is only possible after inspection. Once the gearbox is open and checked, we discuss the sensible work.
The gearbox is completely disassembled. The internal components are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath and then assessed using a structured inspection protocol. You receive the documented findings, damage photos where relevant, and a detailed quotation with explanations of the recommended work.
Depending on the gearbox type, the typical scope includes new bearings, synchronizer rings, sliding sleeves, locking pieces and seals, together with proven reinforcements and precise setup work. The final scope is defined after disassembly and inspection.
Yes. Depending on engine, tyre size and intended use, gear ratio changes, reinforced parts or other upgrades can make sense. Possible measures are checked individually and discussed before they are implemented.
Yes, depending on the situation we can arrange delivery or shipping.
In most cases, the work concerns the gearbox itself. Just describe your vehicle and situation in the request.
Yes. Issues and larger steps are explained and discussed before they happen.
Yes. We document damage and key work steps with photos and videos.
Yes, 2WD and Syncro are the focus.
No problem. A short description of the symptoms is enough for the first contact.

Briefly describe what's going on. It doesn't have to be perfect — a few notes about the vehicle, gearbox and symptoms are enough.
